I like to doodle frogs sometimes and saw a photo of a little frog statue on pixabay and decided to doodle from that. Of course the end result kind of took on a life of its own, but it’s still kind of cute!
I used Lestraset and my grey C-3 Copic ciao markers on this, and of course my staedtler pigment liners for the outline.

I’d had the idea floating round in my mind for this design for some time, stuck in there with all those other ideas that are all fighting to become reality. I wanted something reasonably quick to complete after the eagle picture, so I decided to attempt to get this done. Drawing out the lettering and colouring them in really reminded me of my old graphics classes and how much I both loved and hated typography. This was drawn on my Daler Rowney A4 65lb Sketch paper, using Staedtler pigment liners.
Just a random little happy frog doodle. Coloured in using a mix of Letraset Promarkers and a grey and a pink copic marker (Cool Grey No. 3 and R02 to be specific) .
This was just a fun little thing to doodle, I first drew it out in my sketchbook and then found that the markers don’t look so good on that, so copied it onto some marker paper and coloured it in there.
I’m currently working on doodling some hedgehogs, so hopefully some of that will make it’s way onto here soon 🙂

Created this little flower doodle as a card today. Always pleasing to do something nice and quick to create a unique card for someone.
I created this by drawing out the flowers, then going over it with my 0.3 Staedtler pigment liner. Then added colour with my Letraset Promarkers. The lighter bits on the purple flower were done with a Pale Lavender Copic marker pen, which turned out to be really good at adding highlights to the petals even after I’d already coloured then in with my purple Promarker.
So before Christmas I decided I’d be proactive in keeping myself busy and I’d just learnt about Scrawlr boxes so figured it’s a good way to make sure I have at least something new to keep me occupied each month. So the January one is my first, it’s certainly exciting getting a delivery of random art stuff and it’s good to try out things I wouldn’t necessarily have heard of or brought.
I love the fact that there’s a nice variety of things in the box that will come in useful for other things too, and they also thought to include an extra treat (and it was a rather nice lolly 😛 )
The featured art work, which I think is great that it both inspires to do something maybe a bit different and also gives exposure to an artist who may not necessarily get it.
This months featured artist was someone who goes by the name IGotTheDoodles
This was the Scrawlr challenge, not my normal style and quite different, but I certainly gave it a shot…
This was my little random squiggle (that hopefully you can just about see) which then turned into …
So the finished thing ended up looking like this after the colour was added. I may have gone a little over board with the colour, but that’s just one of the things you realise after you’ve done it sometimes.
So it’s definitely abstract I think, not sure if I like it, but it was fun to do.
The things I learnt or remembered whilst doing this…
- Colour in moderation is sometimes best, especially with pens.
- These particular pens – the Faber-Castell grip colour markers, aren’t ones I’d probably go out of my way to get, they are good for very small areas and bits you won’t really go back over, but the effect when you go back over an area isn’t too great, they may be better on marker paper so I’ll probably test that out at some point.
- Trying to work out what to put in random shapes is fun but tricky.
So all in all I’m glad I’ve subscribed. It gives me something extra to do and who doesn’t want random art supplies to try out. Now I’m excited for the February box. 🙂 And hopefully I’ll have a lot of other things to post between now and when I get that.
“Someday, we’ll run into each other again, I know it.
Maybe I’ll be older and smarter and just plain better. If that happens,
that’s when I’ll deserve you. But now, at this moment, you can’t hook
your boat to mine, because I’m liable to sink us both.”
― Gabrielle Zevin, Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac
I was doodling the other night and ended up creating these two characters. I used Sharpies to colour them in and I used my Staedtler pigment liners for the outline.
